About the Brainstorming Sessions

The purpose of the breakout brainstorming sessions is to serve as a platform for initial discussion and brainstorming on the rules, strategies, and design ideas for this year’s Game.
The breakout sessions will allow you to see how some of the other FIRST participants have interpreted the game, get a little cross-pollination of ideas, and make sure the time spent brainstorming with your team is put to the best use.
While it’s understandable that some teams may be reluctant to “give away their ideas,” FIRST games are designed to be complex, and the chance that someone on your team has actually “solved” the game within a half hour of seeing it for the first time is quite low.
The first day of the build season is more about understanding the intricacies of the game than deciding on a specific design. It typically takes days or weeks of brainstorming, prototyping, and trial & error before deciding upon a final design… The breakout sessions are an attempt to help teams get a strong jumpstart on this process.
