2017 FIRST Robotics Competition Kickoff

PA-Allison Park-A.W. Beattie Career Center Kickoff is our local kickoff event:

When: Saturday, January 7, 2017

Where: A.W. Beattie Career Center, 9600 Babcock Blvd, Allison Park, PA 15101

Thanks to A.W. Beattie Career Center and FRC Team 2051, the Beattie Bulldogs, for hosting the 2017 Kickoff! MAP

[Note that the 2016-17 Western PA FIRST LEGO League Grand Championship will be held on the same day, 1/7/17, at nearby LaRoche College.]


What to Bring:

  • Consent & Release Forms for team members who have not completed the online consent form (with parent/guardian approval if under 18).  Please note: Consent forms must also be completed by adults who are attending the Kickoff. Extra forms will be available on site. Consent Form Info; Form (pdf)
  • Team roster – Team leaders can print this out. Roster indicates those who submitted consent forms online.
  • Laptops with encrypted game manual already downloaded – watch the FIRST website for more info [Note: Be sure to try the Decryption Test page to make sure the game manual password (revealed at Kickoff) will work on your computer.] (optional)
  • Recommended: dolly or cart with team number clearly marked (for the Kit of Parts) (optional)

8:00 – 8:50 AM Team Check-in & Registration; Coffee, Pastries, Networking
9:00 – 10:15 AM Local Program led by Patricia DePra, FIRST Regional Director – Western & Central PA; Welcome by Mr. Eric C. Heasley, Executive Director, A.W. Beattie Career Center
10:15 – 10:30 AM Break (Also: Kickoff Broadcast pre-program AV check)
10:30 – ~11:20 AM FIRST Kickoff Broadcast from FIRST Headquarters – includes “The Reveal” of the 2017 game FIRST STEAMWORKS (Note: Since we will not know the length of the broadcast in advance, the following times are approximate)
11:20 – 11:40 AM Walk-through & viewing: 2017 FIRST STEAMWORKS Field Elements 
11:45 – 12:30 PM
12:30 – ~1 PM  
  • View the 2017 FIRST STEAMWORKS Field Elements
  • See Strategy Sessions results: Session leaders will post chart paper near the Field Elements
  • Networking – meet & greet fellow teams
~1:30 – 2PM Field Elements will be moved to the Girls of Steel Practice Field at NREC
